Severance Negotiations

Under most circumstances an employer is not legally obligated to offer a severance package to an employee who is terminated or voluntarily resigning.  Employers, however, often offer severance packages in an effort to avoid the possibility of any future claims by the employee, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation and wage claims.  Without a proper understanding of your rights, it is difficult to adequately assess the fairness or adequacy of any severance package.  If you are an individual who has been presented a severance agreement and want to know what it means for you, do not hesitate to contact Caycedo Law, P.C.
